My Name is Jim Anderson and I am a retired air traffic controller from Canada and I am part of the wheelchair athlete team crossing Canada. I will be acting as technical support, backup support vehicle driver and on route fundraising logistics for the entire 4 month trip. I am not one of the athletes and cannot share in their glory for the monumental task they are undertaking. I can however offer them my support in any capacity needed to make their dream a reality.
I am hosting this blog site as a means of communicating with all of our supporters and to encourage all of you to pass the link to this site to all of your email contacts. If everyone does the same and in turn passes this link on to all of their friends and acquaintances we can touch the hearts and souls of a lot of fellow Canadians. With a small effort on our part we can help make a huge difference for people bound to a wheelchair enabling the fruition of a miracle for them to walk again.
We’ll be using the site to promote our trip as well as a fund raising tool.
I will try to update the site every night with tales of the trip and I suspect there will be some good ones. If not I will make some up because that is what Charlie would do to me.
This way We will be able to include all of you in our trip so that you will all feel a part of this magnificant endeavour. Plus it will be great encouragement hearing from all of you on the blog site.
Please forward the news of this endeavour to everyone on your email lists so that everyone gets a chance to become a part of this historic break through in medical healing.
The links for our two sites are. Main home site is Wheel to Walk Canada this is the main information official site of our charity foundation.
The blog site for news from the trail is
www.wheeltowalkcanada.wordpress.com
We hope to use this site to educate everybody about the significant spinal cord regeneration breakthrough, raise awareness to the significant amount of money required to bring the science to human clinical trials as well as have fun with all the friends we hope to make as we cross Canada doing all of the above.
Please check out the sites and make the effort to pass this important information on to anyone who will listen to you.
We need your support and financial assistance to reach our athletes’ goal to walk again.

Hi,
I met you and some of your team by the side of the road in Golden, BC. I am from St. John’s, NL and was wondering if there was anything I could do for the effort here in St. John’s. I have some time off in September and would be glad to lend a hand. I have lots of contacts here…not sure what kind of help you could use.

Hi Wilma:
I am amazed each day on this journey how things unfold. I have said this many times on this journey Each day I turn a corner there is an another Angel wanting to help. Thanks for your offer. Or are they messengers?
We have been trying to plan an event in Newfoundland to mark our arrival with a large fund raising event but do not have the connections we need to bring it together.
We would need the involvement of a lot of volunteers to pull it off as well as having a suitable large Hall available for us at little or no cost to the event.
I have a son who has a very good band that just finished playing at the Toronto Sky Dome and he and his band have agreed to play for such an event at no charge to us. They have played in St Johns before and would draw a large crowd to the event.
What we need is someone to organize this event quickly who can leverage the community to come together in support of the event. We would also welcome some Corporate sponsors to provide the Hall if possible and Community Organizations such as the Lions, Rotary Club, Church Groups etc to partner with us to make the event both large and a success.
I understand this is a tall order but I understand from my experiences during this journey that nothing is impossible if the communities come together.
Tiuckets could be sold and all proceeds would go directly to the Wheel to Walk fund for Dr Rathbones research and Human Clinical Studies. $20.00 per ticket would not be unreasonable and the entertainment would be good.
We envision an event for possibly upwards of a thousand people.
What are your thoughts on arranging such an event and do you think your community would support it?
I am a retired Air Traffic Controller and still remember the response from your community during the emergency of 911 when you opened your homes and hearts to all of the stranded travellers.
Your community has a lot to be proud of and I hope we can get them to realize the importance of this miracle medical breakthrough and have them host and support such a large fund raiser to complete our journey.
It would be a message from our down home Newfoundland friends that could not be ignored by the rest of Canada.
Thanks for your offer and I hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts.
